For all those who fear that six-day races are all about nasty Europeans smoking endlessly, this is a smoke-free shot from the 1999 Berlin six-day race. Not a cigarette to be seen, but those pacing bikes int he foreground tend to pollute the air a bit! The Berlin velodrome has a capacity of about 10,000 spectators for each session during the six-day race, and features six different bars in the track centre alone.
